Wonderfully Made

I have purposely not written on the issue of abortion in this column. I have come to realize that people seem to believe what they want to believe in order to justify their actions. It’s not that I don’t have a strong opinion on this matter; because I do. However, the purpose of this column is to focus on God and His Word. On the other hand, there are times when cultural trends demand insight on what is not being reported in the media.

President Obama last week overturned a controversial ban on U.S. support to international aid groups that provide abortion services around the world. Reversing this ban was a top priority of abortionists, who maintain that the ban hinders women's health, particularly in developing nations.

Obama said, "For too long, international family planning assistance has been used as a political wedge issue, the subject of a back-and-forth debate that has served only to divide us. It is time that we end the politicization of this issue.”

Just this week, Obama’s action was praised in the presence of my company as a good thing and something that was the right thing to do. I then heard the same old arguments often given by the left wing to justify the reason why we should rejoice in Obama’s decision.

I sat quietly and heard a considerable amount of adoration lifted up toward Obama’s view of funding abortions around the world. In knowing that the abortion issue can be heated if both sides were to be presented and since I was also at my work, I did not just jump into the conversation. After a few moments, I did however ask if I could give another view on the subject.

This idea of mine to hear the other side of the issue was rejected as it was not the time and place for a debate. It’s funny to me that those who stand for life, are often the ones painted as stirring the waters. However, I can’t tell you how many times I have sat in an office as a conservative Christain, biting my tongue as anti-Christian bigotry and leftist policies are allowed to propagate in the office unchallenged.

One thing we learn about history is that mankind never learns from history. The same mistakes happen over and over again, only because a new generation, not knowing their history is snowed by the latest propaganda machine, into believing they have a new system that will work. In reality we have the same failed system of the past masked under the name of change.

Here are some facts about abortion that some do not want to admit.

The left exhibits a resounding indifference to the little-known fact that it is Black women who suffer disproportionately from abortion. Blacks comprise about 13 percent of the US population, yet Black women are sold roughly 35 percent of abortions. But most disturbing is this fact: Black women account for at least 50 percent of known abortion deaths.

The niece of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., led a prayer vigil and memorial outside the White House on Jan. 23, to remember unborn children killed in abortions. Civil rights activist Alveda King said…

“Over 45 years ago, my Uncle, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., wrote from a Birmingham jail cell that ‘injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere,’” King said. “Today, there is no greater injustice than that suffered by the 4,000 babies, 1,400 of them black, who die on any given day at the hands of abortionists."

Is there good reason for these numbers? Indeed there is. It seems that abortionists target Black women, and always have. Planned Parenthood founder Margaret Sanger supported eugenics through birth control to cull people she considered unfit from the population. In 1921, she said eugenics is "the most adequate and thorough avenue to the solution of racial, political and social problems."

At one point, Sanger lamented "the ever increasing, unceasingly spawning class of human beings who never should have been born at all." Another time, Sanger wrote, "We do not want the word to go out that we want to exterminate the Negro population."

But that was back in the 1920’s, things have changed now right? Well, apparently not.

A student-run magazine at UCLA has revealed an undercover investigation in which representatives of Planned Parenthood, the nation's abortion industry leader, admitted willingness to accepting a financial donation targeting the destruction of an unborn black baby.

The Advocate's Idaho investigation recorded an actor wanting to make a donation and a woman identified as Autumn Kersey, vice president of marketing for Planned Parenthood of Idaho.

Actor: I want to specify that abortion to help a minority group, would that be possible?

Planned Parenthood: Absolutely.

Actor: Like the black community for example?

Planned Parenthood: Certainly.

Actor: The abortion – I can give money specifically for a black baby, that would be the purpose?

Planned Parenthood: Absolutely. If you wanted to designate that your gift be used to help an African-American woman in need, then we would certainly make sure that the gift was earmarked for that purpose.

Actor: Great, because I really faced trouble with affirmative action, and I don't want my       kids to be disadvantaged against black kids. I just had a baby; I want to put it in his name.

Planned Parenthood: Yes, absolutely.

Actor: And we don't, you know we just think, the less black kids out there the better.

Planned Parenthood: (Laughs) Understandable, understandable.

Actor: Right. I want to protect my son, so he can get into college.

Planned Parenthood: All right. Excuse my hesitation, this is the first time I've had a donor call and make this kind of request, so I'm excited, and want to make sure I don't leave anything out.

This is no laughing matter and yet today as in the past, we see the targeting of Black mothers as a means to make a dollar at the cost of a life.

The leftist political leaders have been able to propagate a clever rationale in the last few years that blurs the lines of the issue. It is said that they personally disagree with abortions and would never have one, however they don’t want to oppose others that may not see it their way. So according to this logic, each person has the right to make this determination on their own, whatever the choice, it’s fine with them.

This rationale has been picked up by many in the public not fully understanding that this type of logic makes no sense at all. I would like to expose this propaganda as fraud.

If the baby really is just tissue matter as the abortionists claim, why would anyone in their right mind oppose the removal of tissue from the body. This happens everyday in hospitals with no protest from anyone.

Deep to the root of the debate, there are not a handful of reasons to oppose an abortion. There is, in fact, only one reason. If you personally do not agree with abortions, it would not be because you see the baby as mere tissue. It all hinges on one base aspect from which all the other issues sprout. So there are no good reasons to personally oppose abortions unless you believe that one element to be true. That element is that the baby is a real life, a person for which you see no need to kill.

Why did some risk their life in an effort to stop the brutal beating of Reginald Denny in the 1992 Los Angeles riots? They saw someone on TV that they did not know and had never seen before, yet they went out into the riots to do something about it. They saw life. A real human life and they could relate to Denny’s pain. And it was not just fine and dandy in the minds of those that helped Denny, for thugs to make a choice of their own that Denny’s life needed to end no mater how angry they were at the moment.

This happens over and over again when it comes to human life hanging in the balance. People see a real human about to die and they do something about it. They jump into cold icy waters or run into a building that is on fire. They spend all night looking under a mountain of snow for one they saw covered by an avalanche.

Why? Why take these risks?

It’s not because those seen in harm’s way were viewed as tissue matter and not a real person. It’s because they saw life and they saw life as a precious gift of God and worth saving.

To say you are “personally” for life, but care not if others choose to take life is but a sham of a high degree. The propaganda of this rationale is indeed a fraudulent claim and must be exposed for what it is. Stop trying to fool people who see your true colors. You cannot have it both ways.

The fact is, God knows us while we are yet in our mother’s womb.

    Psalm 139

13 For You formed my inward parts; You covered me in my mother’s womb.

14 I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works, And that my soul knows very well.

15 My frame was not hidden from You, When I was made in secret, And skillfully wrought in the lowest parts of the earth.

16 Your eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed. And in Your book they all were written, The days fashioned for me, When as yet there were none of them.
